2009 Pinewood Derby Wrapup
I think we had another great pinewood derby this year. 32 Cubs showed up to race. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out. It really is a team effort; no one person can do it all. Thanks especially to Bob Erwin who’s stepped up to chair the event starting next year.
There were a *lot* of fast cars this year. Congratulations scouts and dads.
With no further ado, all the details, results, and statistics from the event:

Lane Statistics Which lane was *really* the fastest or slowest? But look at the average times per lane, as well as the lane placement results, before deciding!
Heat Turn Around Times How did the race management and pit crew do? Well, we turned around from the close of the preliminary round to the start of the grand finals rounc two minutes faster this year, but overall average turnaround was down by 10 seconds per heat from 2008. This may have been due to the large number of heats we needed to re-run due to “no result” being received by the scoring computer. As the pack grows, keeping turn-around time short is an important aspect of keeping the event at manageable length.
